"Decidedly Disheveled"

I love my new apartment but it's a bit shabbier than it appears!
This is the view from the bedroom thru the wee living room...
love the circa 1982 b&w checkered kitchen floor!

The bedroom was the selling point...
The lovely view of West 106th and the Nursing home across the street

Feels like Home!

Rain on the window of the cafeteria at work.
Everything but the view makes me feel like I'm home!

A lovely day in Central Park

This fountain was featured in one of my favorite movies, Godspell.
(a cherished holiday favorite amongst the  Greater McManama Family...)

This is what it's like to work in The Big City?

No longer own my home...

Welcome Mr. Jason Kirkwood!
Hope you enjoy it.
I certainly did these past 3+ years...
Sure hope my Senator barks at you from his new home on the other side of the fence.
(I mean Bonnie's house next door - not his political stance!)

Driving is fun here.
Parking is not.

Driving here is a lot like driving in L.A. - fast.

Except for here there are pedestrians - a lot of pedestrians.

80 degrees and Sunny in NYC

inside the corporate HQ of Estee Lauder
I spent a lovely day with my good friend Jason
(he sold me my No-Po house!)
He lives here and hates it.
I love it that he is here.
(Sadly for me he is leaving on Tuesday - he's having a wee Oregonian Baby!)
I love that he has a 40% discount at the Estee Lauder Company Store.

Facebook anyone?

If you are still totally like 2004 and are into the myspace - I encourage you to drink the grown up kool aid and join 2008 and Facebook.  Totally hip, totally now (for right-this-second anyway)  No pervy friend requests (unless you are into that kind of thing - no judging).
It's a good thing....

I found an apartment!

It's a 3 story walk-up (no elevator!) a "true one bedroom" (often a bedroom means a big closet or an off-to-the-sidish area),  this one will fit my queen bed with room to spare!  It also sports a separate kitchen (no bugs!  the current tenant told me with pride),  a wee dining area, a suitable bathroom (no tub = no biggie)  and a living room with enough space for my beloved Dania furniture.  It's only 49 streets away from work - that's close for my budget (you don't want to know...   this place was actually under my limit!   I'll just say it's a lot more than the mortgage on my home!)  The movers get to haul all my (and Tameras) crap up the stairs on May 2nd - I can't wait.   Almost forgot - It's just blocks from Columbia University - future home of Anita!

My first NYC Red Carpet - Now with Supers!

Since I still have my "training wheels" on, I had lots of time to snatch up these wee little Blackberry photos of all the fun (a 'grown-up' photog shot the real stuff).  It was actually pretty entertaining watching the still photogs going crazy paparazzi - shouting at the celebs and shoving each other around for their shots....  Now with Supers!  I shot these with the cell phone so they suck...
This is Rosie O'Donnell arriving - you just can't see her, but really it is.  I would have chosen Bono if I was lying.
Tina Fey
Will Arnett and Amy Poehler
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog with "handler" - hard to see I know...
Susan Sarandon
Kesey Grammer
Sarah Silverman
The carpet was actually blue...   Maroon 5

Matthew Broderick (my fav Ferris Bueller)

I went to Mass today ....

It brought me back - way back to my church days...  it was cute watching the little ones enjoying their first communion.  (I was hungry enough that I actually thought about going up myself!)   This is not a new hobby - it was for work and it was in NEW JERSEY (my first visit to the Garden State).

I've been neglecting my blogging duties....

Cabs are fun!
Fancy-pants Anita in front of her new fancy-pants school...
My fancy-pants UN press pass...
The UN building (non-fancy-pants)... badly in need of a good powerwashing and some new decor.  They do have lots of flags though!

Boring, I know.... but I'm sick!

Boring, I know....  But I'm sick!

Perhaps the worst movie ever created is now a Broadway show....  Yikes.
The Mother Ship.
For Jon-Michael
For Anita

A big city with really small shopping carts.

SICK.

NYC welcomed me with a chest cold!  Yippee.

DEPRESSING

Super cute neighborhood...
Great view....
Spacious two bedroom...
Walk-in tub!  Just $2400/mth

Poor-man Video Converence

I "video conferenced" to some of my favorite co-workers (who were hanging out in a sat truck on the Oregon Coast) using a cell phone and a webcam in Times Square.  I think it might have been a bit more fun for them - since they got to see me while I only got to see the camera.  And I felt like a dork talking and waving to storefront.

NYC

The view from my temporary digs....

The Time-Warner Center where I'll be working...  complete with a mall and a Whole Foods in the basement.
